Objective Reasonableness

A legal standard that evaluates an actor's conduct by reference to what a hypothetical reasonable person (here, typically a reasonable officer) would have done under the same facts and circumstances known to the actor at the time, assessed without the benefit of hindsight and with allowance for split-second decision-making when applicable.
