Moment-Resisting Frame

Engineering & Applied Technologies Dictionary
Definition
A building frame in which beam–column connections are intentionally designed to develop and transfer bending moments and shear so the frame resists lateral loads without reliance on discrete bracing or shear walls; the system’s lateral stiffness and strength arise from connection rotation restraint and member flexure.
