Modulation

Process of mapping discrete digital symbols (or baseband waveforms) onto continuous-time, band-limited physical signals by varying one or more waveform parameters (such as amplitude, phase, frequency, or pulse shape) in order to convey information over a physical transmission medium while meeting spectral, power and implementation constraints.
