Modem

A device that converts digital signals (discrete symbols or bit streams) into analog waveforms suitable for transmission over an analog physical medium and reconverts received analog waveforms back into digital form; performs modulation and demodulation and may include line coding, synchronization and basic error-detection functions but does not, by definition, perform network-layer routing or hig
