Median Voter Theorem

A formal result for a unidimensional policy space: if voters have single‑peaked preferences over a continuous policy dimension, collective choice is by majority rule, and voters vote sincerely, then the policy preferred by the median voter is a Condorcet winner and thus a stable outcome of pairwise majority voting under standard tie-breaking assumptions.
