Marquetry

A decorative woodworking technique in which thin veneers—sheets of wood or other materials—are precisely cut, assembled and inlaid to form pictorial or geometric designs on a substrate; assembled veneer pieces are adhered, trimmed and finished to produce a continuous decorated surface.
