Ischemia–Reperfusion Injury

Tissue injury that occurs when blood flow is restored to previously ischemic tissue, where reperfusion triggers reactive oxygen species generation, calcium overload, endothelial dysfunction and inflammatory responses that increase cell death beyond that caused by ischemia alone.
