Gyroscopic Precession

The rotation of a spinning rigid body's axis caused by an applied torque perpendicular to its angular-momentum vector: the torque produces a time derivative of angular momentum that reorients the spin axis orthogonally rather than instantaneously tilting it toward the torque.
