Functional Electrical Stimulation

The application of controlled electrical pulses to peripheral nerves or muscles to produce muscle contractions that restore, assist, or augment specific functional movements (for example, limb clearance during gait), used as a therapeutic or orthotic intervention in people with neuromuscular impairments.
