A transmission strategy in which a carrier frequency (or channel) is changed during transmission according to a predefined or pseudo‑random sequence known to transmitter and receiver; used to reduce the probability of persistent narrowband interference, aid coexistence, enable multiple access, or provide certain resilience properties, with variants distinguished by hop rate (slow vs fast) and sync
