Fact-Checking Unit

A dedicated team or formally organized function within or affiliated to a media organization whose primary task is to verify the factual accuracy of explicit claims, the reliability of sources, and the evidentiary basis of assertions prior to publication or to produce post-publication corrections and ratings of claim accuracy according to defined procedures.
