A progressive, use‑dependent reduction in fabric strength, stiffness or integrity caused by repeated bending, flexing, cyclic tensile or compressive loading that accumulates microdamage and can culminate in yarn fracture, hole formation or sudden rupture under loads that the virgin fabric would withstand.
