Experimental Philosophy (X-Phi)

A methodological approach in philosophy that uses empirical tools—surveys, controlled experiments, and statistical analysis—to gather data about people's intuitions, judgments, or cognitive responses in order to inform, test, or refine philosophical theorizing; it investigates how ordinary or expert judgments vary with psychological, cultural, or contextual factors.
