Enemy Release Hypothesis

A hypothesis in invasion ecology proposing that when a species is introduced to a new region it can experience reduced regulation by its native predators, parasites, and pathogens (natural enemies), and that this reduced enemy pressure can allow higher population growth and facilitate establishment and spread.
