A transmission model in which the per-capita transmission rate increases with host population density because contact rates scale with density; typically represented by transmission terms proportional to population size (e.g., βN or β(N)) rather than per‑capita frequency terms, and applied when contacts rise as hosts become more numerous in the same area.
