Definition
The anteroposterior curvature observed in the sagittal plane that follows the occlusal surfaces of the mandibular dentition (and by extension the opposing maxillary occlusal plane), typically rising from the premolars posteriorly toward the condylar axis; it is a geometric descriptor that influences occlusal contacts, mandibular function and orthodontic/restorative planning.
