A concept describing the relocation, temporal shift, change in target, change in method, or diffusion across jurisdictions of criminal activity that can occur after an intervention reduces opportunities in a specific place, time, or form; displacement denotes a change in the distribution of criminal acts rather than necessarily an overall increase in crime.
