Contrast Ratio

The ratio of the luminance of the brightest reproducible area to the luminance of the darkest reproducible area within a specified image, display, or print process, measured under particular test conditions and measurement geometry (commonly expressed as A:B or A:1); it quantifies potential luminous range but does not alone determine perceived contrast.
