A body of rules and doctrines used to determine which jurisdiction’s courts may hear a dispute, which jurisdiction’s substantive law governs the parties’ rights and obligations, and whether and how a court’s judgments will be recognized or enforced across jurisdictions when a legal dispute involves more than one territorial, national, or legal order.
