Combined procedural approach that uses mechanical instrumentation to disrupt and remove biofilm matrix and debris together with chemical irrigants or medicaments that chemically dissolve, denature, or inactivate microbial communities and organic residues, applied to root canal systems or periodontal pockets to reduce microbial load and prepare tissues for healing or obturation.
