Cartographic Misregistration

A cartographic error or discrepancy between a mapped boundary or geospatial representation and the on‑the‑ground reality it purports to depict, produced by measurement error, projection differences, datum mismatches, outdated sources, or human placement mistakes; operationally it refers to any misalignment that materially affects administrative, legal, or operational use of maps.
