Bellman's Principle of Optimality
Definition
A dynamic-programming principle stating that an optimal policy has the property that, regardless of the initial state and decision, the remaining decisions must constitute an optimal policy for the state resulting from the first decision; equivalently, optimal solutions exhibit optimal substructure.
