Artist-Run Initiative

A project or organization conceived, governed and managed by artists to produce exhibitions, publications, residencies, or community programs outside mainstream commercial gallery or institutional frameworks; typically characterized by artist agency, peer governance (often non‑hierarchical), modest budgets, experimental programming, and an emphasis on autonomy from market or institutional prioriti
