Artifact Fragmentation Index

A quantitative metric expressing the degree to which artifacts within an assemblage are broken or fragmented relative to a defined reference (for example counts of fragments versus counts of complete or diagnostic items, or mass of fragmented material relative to total assemblage mass); the index must state its operational formula and counting rules to be interpretable.
