Hemostasis

The coordinated physiological sequence that arrests bleeding after vascular injury: vascular constriction, platelet adhesion and aggregation (primary hemostasis), and activation of the coagulation cascade to form a stable fibrin mesh (secondary hemostasis), followed by regulated fibrinolysis to restore vessel patency.
