Environmental Determinism

A doctrine or explanatory approach that attributes primary causal weight to environmental factors (climate, topography, resource distribution) in shaping human societies, behaviors, and historical trajectories; as an interpretive stance it emphasizes environmental causation but often simplifies or marginalizes social, cultural, political, and technological mediators.
