Dissociative Ligand Substitution

A ligand‑exchange mechanism at a coordination complex in which an existing ligand first departs from the metal centre, producing a lower‑coordinate intermediate (often a coordinatively unsaturated species); the incoming ligand subsequently binds to restore coordination.
