Digital Cushion

A fibroelastic, adipose-rich pad located beneath the distal phalanx inside the hoof of ungulate species that deforms under load to absorb compressive and concussive forces and that contributes to venous return from the digit by transmitting pressure to adjacent vascular plexuses.
