Dental Procedure–Associated Bacteremia

The transient presence of viable oral bacteria in the bloodstream occurring during or shortly after dental procedures or mucosal manipulation; bacteremia is usually brief and cleared by host defenses but can seed distant sites or trigger systemic responses in susceptible individuals.
