Demodulation

Process of recovering estimates of transmitted symbols or baseband information from a received physical waveform by applying matched filtering, carrier and timing recovery, sampling and a decision rule (and often equalization and soft-output processing); demodulation is the inverse physical‑layer mapping that yields symbol estimates for subsequent decoding or processing.
