Deligne–Lusztig Theory
Definition
A geometric construction that produces virtual and genuine representations of finite groups of Lie type by computing ℓ-adic étale cohomology with Frobenius action of specially constructed algebraic varieties (Deligne–Lusztig varieties), thus linking algebraic geometry and finite-group representation theory.
