Defect Density

A normalized measure equal to the number of defects observed divided by a defined unit of production (for example per part, per area, per thousand units, per thousand lines of code), used to quantify the prevalence of defects for comparison or control. The meaning of “defect” and the unit of normalization must be specified for the metric to be interpretable.
