Cultural Ecology

An interdisciplinary approach that studies how cultural beliefs, practices and social organization adapt to, manage, and transform environmental and ecological conditions, and conversely how ecological contexts constrain or enable cultural patterns, treating the relationship as reciprocal rather than unidirectional.

An analytic approach that examines how human societies adapt to and transform their physical and biotic environments, emphasizing resource use, subsistence strategies, technological practices, and feedbacks between environment and cultural organization.
