Courant-Friedrichs-Lewy Condition
Definition
A necessary constraint on the relation between time-step and spatial discretization (usually expressed via a dimensionless CFL number) that must be satisfied for stability of many explicit time-marching schemes applied to hyperbolic partial differential equations; it encodes that the numerical domain of dependence contains the PDE domain of dependence.
