Configuration Factor (C-Factor)

The ratio of bonded (adhesively constrained) surface area to unbonded (free) surface area inside a prepared cavity for a direct resin restoration; higher C-factor values indicate a greater proportion of bonded surfaces and therefore greater geometric constraint on composite polymerization shrinkage.
