Cockling

A deformation of a sheet of paper or board characterized by localized out-of-plane buckling or rippling produced when differential dimensional change (typically from moisture uptake and loss) or in-plane tension exceeds the material’s bending stiffness or restraint conditions, producing visible waves or corrugations on one or both faces.
