Chiefdom

A ranked, multi‑community sociopolitical organization in which leadership is typically hereditary or ascriptive, authority is institutionalized in a chief or lineage of chiefs, and the polity exercises control over resources and redistribution across constituent communities without the full administrative apparatus or legal impersonality of a state.
