Catalyst–Substrate Interaction

The set of physical and chemical contacts and couplings between a catalyst (surface, metal center, enzyme, or molecular catalyst) and its substrate that determine adsorption or binding, orientation, electronic communication, and the pathway and rate of chemical transformation at active sites.
