Capsular Contracture

A process of progressive fibrosis and contractile remodeling of the fibrous capsule that naturally forms around an implanted device, in which excessive collagen deposition and myofibroblast activity produce tightening of the capsule that can distort the implant’s shape, cause pain, or impair device function.
