Boundary Violation

A clinician’s transgression of professionally established limits in a therapeutic relationship that uses the clinician’s role, authority, or access to exploit, advantage, or harm a patient — for example by engaging in sexual relations, inappropriate financial transactions, or other actions that substitute the clinician’s personal interests for professional duties.
