Thermodynamic measure of the body’s internal thermal state, commonly reported in degrees Celsius or Fahrenheit; clinically distinguished by measurement site (core versus peripheral) and by whether temperature change reflects altered hypothalamic setpoint (fever) or external heat exposure (hyperthermia).
