Baumol's Cost Disease

Social Sciences Dictionary
Definition
The observation that wages in labor‑intensive, low‑productivity service sectors (e.g., live performance, personal services, some education and healthcare activities) tend to rise in line with wages in high‑productivity sectors, even though productivity in those services does not increase comparably; the result is rising relative costs and prices for those services over time.
