Basilica

A large Roman public building characterized by a longitudinal rectangular hall with a central nave flanked by aisles, separated by colonnades and typically terminating in one or more apses; originally used for civic functions such as law courts, business and assembly and later adapted as a principal church type in Christian architecture.
