Associative Ligand Substitution

A ligand‑exchange mechanism in coordination chemistry in which an incoming ligand first coordinates to the metal center, forming a higher‑coordination intermediate (often five‑ or seven‑coordinate) before a leaving ligand departs, resulting in net ligand substitution.
