Definition
A rapid bedside assessment of a newborn’s immediate postnatal physiologic status performed at specified minutes after birth that assigns 0–2 points to five domains—Appearance (skin color), Pulse, Grimace (reflex irritability), Activity (muscle tone), and Respiration—and sums them (0–10) to inform the need for immediate resuscitative or supportive measures and to document short‑term response to int
