Acquired Pellicle Formation

The rapid adsorption of host‑derived salivary proteins, glycoproteins and other macromolecules onto hard oral surfaces (notably enamel and restorations) forming a conditioning film — the acquired pellicle — that alters surface properties and mediates selective microbial attachment.
