Definition
A network device that provides wireless medium access to client stations and forwards their traffic into a wired or wireless distribution system. An access point implements radio interface functions and local MAC-layer bridging/forwarding, may offer authentication and encryption services, and appears to clients as the endpoint of a Basic Service Set (BSS) or similar radio cell.
