Definition

The dorsal thoracic prominence formed by the dorsal tips of the scapular spines and adjacent thoracic vertebrae at the base of the neck in horses and many other ungulates; used as the standard external landmark for measuring stature because it corresponds to a relatively fixed skeletal point.
