Definition

A hydroelectric facility that stores energy by using electrical power to pump water from a lower reservoir to an upper reservoir and later generates electricity by releasing that stored water through turbines, typically using reversible pump‑turbines, penstocks and reservoir infrastructure to provide large‑scale, long‑duration energy storage.
