Definition

The ratio of actual ties present in a network to the number of all possible ties among the nodes in that network; for a simple undirected network with N nodes, density = L / [N(N − 1)/2], where L is the number of observed links. Density indexes overall connectedness but is sensitive to network size, directedness and tie definition.
